Genova, colori di mare

Genoa, colors of the sea

From September 8th to October 11th, the Galata Museo del Mare will host the exhibition "Genoa, Colors of the Sea" by photographer and travel blogger Fabio Accorrà. Curated by Giulia Cassini, the exhibition aims to showcase Genoa and its core identity: the sea.

The core of the twenty works selected for the exhibition are taken from the photography book "The Colors of Genoa" (Erga Edizioni). The exhibition, held in the Exhibition Gallery on the second floor of the Galata Museo del Mare, is organized in collaboration with Mu.MA, the Socio-Cultural Cooperative, the National Services Consortium, the Association of Maritime and Navigation Museum Promoters, and the patronage of the Neos Association of Travel Journalists and Photographers.

Fabio Accorrà is a travel photographer. In his Genoa exhibition, he presents different perspectives of the city, illustrated in four sections: "Sea, from fishing to trade," "Sea, light fading at sunset," "Sea, glimpses of light and departures," and "Horizons, between the sacred and the profane." Fabio Accorrà was born in Genoa in 1984. A lifelong traveler, he began photography in the 1990s, developing his first rolls of film and using Polaroid cameras. Photography has left an indelible mark on every one of his journeys, from the boundless landscapes of Lapland to the chaotic life of New York and Tokyo, from the sands of the desert to the power of Icelandic nature. In 2019, he exhibited "The Colors of Japan" at the Consulate General of Japan, based on the book of the same name published that same year by Erga Edizioni. In 2020, he achieved success with the photography exhibition "The Colors of Japan" at the Edoardo Chiossone Museum of Oriental Art in Genoa. He was a juror for the prestigious Wiki Loves Monuments photography competition with Wikimedia Italia for the Abruzzo Region in the 2019 and 2020 editions. In May 2021, he published "The Colors of Genoa" (Erga Edizioni), a photography book that showcases the beauty of the city. In March 2022, he participated with one of his photographs in the "Artists of Italy" exhibition at Villa Reale in Monza, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi. In June 2022, he published his third photography book, "Venice, Colors and Words of Silence" (Erga Edizioni), a photographic reportage that depicts Venice as it had never been seen before, deserted during the last lockdown.
